Woven Constructions for Multi-Level Information Protection

Many communication systems require transmission of certain parts of the information symbols with lower decoding bit error probabilities than others. Using the system requirements for an actual project as an example, two encoding schemes, namely, a woven convolutional scheme and a woven turbo scheme, were simulated with iterative decoding. The simulation results for both schemes confirm the presence of unequal error protection and demonstrate their good error-correcting performance, despite the fact that no optimization was done.
